KCSP Machine

KCSP Machine, formerly known as Kansas City Screw Products, is a machine shop that delivers precision machined parts. And, although the business has been around since 1946– it had no brand identity or marketing assets up until 2024. Under new leadership, I was brought in to develop a cohesive brand identity for the business.

Like, every branding project— this one had its own unique challenges. The first was the name, “Kansas City Screw Products,” which reflected 70+ years of experience, but was also limited in its specificity. Kansas City Screw Products started out providing only screw products, but, has since expanded its capabilities to include a much broader product and service offering. In efforts to modernize the brand and make it less specific, and more approachable, I suggested they transition from using Kansas City Screw Products to KCSP Machine (est. 1946).

KCSP Machine (est. 1946) would allow them to continue building equity and recognition on the Kansas City Screw Products’ legacy. And, by simplifying it to the acronym we had the opportunity to build new associations through taglines, messaging, etc.

I designed the identity to feel modern but familiar. I wanted it to reflect the clean and precise lines of the shop’s work, but not feel sterile. I also wanted it to be flexible so that it could be used across different mediums and packaging.
