OVERVIEW

Investable Universe is an online news concept developed by Trofast Media. They came to me with the request of building a spin-off brand (of Trofast). Blog-based, the new brand, investable universe, focuses on reporting news on real/alternative assets, including real estate, infrastructure, land, tradable commodities like precious metals, soft agricultural commodities, and even art/antiques.

The idea behind the concept was to get people thinking beyond the stock ticker/day trade.

Based on the visual theme of “expand your investable universe” I developed a brand identity with a bit of a space feel. I created three versions of the logo including the favicon, the standard full name logo, and one with the tagline. I also created all the supporting assets for the brand from social media banners to the website.

As a subsidiary of Trofast Media, Investable Universe is grounded in a legacy of traditional financial news. In efforts to pay homage to its roots, I kept the palette simple: black and white with a pop of modern RGB color. As a blog-based site, imagery is everything– so I chose strong foundational photography to set the tone for the first series of posts.

Developed the concept and design for weekly e-newsletter, podcast cover art, and social media.

Andrea is a revelation among designers! Before we even began work on our first job together, she asked a ton of questions, shared best practices as well as her own experience, and really made the effort to penetrate what I was hoping the site(s) would accomplish. The fact that she wanted to get on the same wavelength before even accepting the contract made a big impression on me. She is a high-level conceptual expert, a fantastic communicator, a design solutions engineer, and has a great aesthetic sense. I would work with Andrea again in a heartbeat and I am very proud of the work that she did for my firm.
